About Us
What started as a private home has gradually evolved into a welcoming country house hotel full of warmth and character - so much so that many of our regular guests simply call it ‘the House'.
A house shaped by family
The story of Park House Hotel is deeply entwined with the O’Brien family, whose stewardship transformed a quiet country house into a well-loved hotel with enduring character.
The journey began in the mid-20th century when Michael O’Brien settled in Bepton after years in India, where he had been a keen polo player. The surrounding countryside reminded him of home, and Park House became both a family residence and the foundation of something larger.
What began as a private home gradually evolved into a welcoming country house hotel, retaining its warmth and individuality along the way.
The Estate
Set within the rolling landscape of the South Downs National Park, Park House sits in the small village of Bepton near Midhurst.
The House is surrounded by colourful borders, immaculate lawns, and a golf course set in mature surroundings.
Tennis courts, croquet lawn and both indoor and outdoor pools make up the estate, along with a tranquil spa and individually designed rooms.
A Philosophy of Hospitality at the House
Park House is built on understated comfort rather than formality. We are proud to be independent and family-run, allowing us to shape the experience thoughtfully and personally.
Guests return for the atmosphere as much as the facilities — a sense of being welcomed into a home rather than a hotel.
From seasonal menus showcasing Sussex producers to the quiet corners of the gardens, every detail reflects a belief in considered, unhurried hospitality.
Today
Today, Park House offers 23 individually styled rooms and suites, private cottages, a full spa, dining spaces and extensive grounds.
While the House has evolved, its character remains rooted in family ownership, discretion and genuine warmth.
We continue to welcome returning guests, new visitors and multi-generational families who see Park House as their home in the countryside.
