Langham Brewery, #MendOurWay and the English National Parks Experience Collection …

Local businesses supporting the South Downs National Park …

Park House was delighted to have been selected by the English National Parks Experience Collection (supported by Vist England’s Discover England Fund), as one of their accommodation providers for the South Downs National Park. Experiential tourism has seen huge growth in recent years, with consumers looking for more immersive experiences to connect with places and gain a deeper understanding of where they are visiting. The aim is to attract international visitors and give them the chance to experience the unique living landscapes and timeless rural life that can only be felt in our National Parks. These are journeys through the history, culture, countryside and communities in the best of rural England.

Park House features ales from local award-winning Langham Brewery which produces cask-conditioned real ale. Langham is an independent steam-powered microbrewery situated between the Sussex towns of Midhurst and Petworth in our beautiful National Park. They produce innovative, distinctive and flavoursome real ales using the finest quality ingredients and traditional craft skills.

In October 2017 they were named as the first corporate partner of the South Downs National Park Trust, collaborating to raise the of profile of the fabulous countryside that surrounds us, and leading the way in raising funds to conserve the much-loved 160km South Downs Way for future generations. ‘Mend our Way’ is part of the national ‘Make a Million’ initiative, run by the British Mountaineering Council, which seeks to raise £1,000,000 for some of the UK’s most treasured trails.

Fifteen thousand pairs of boots, 10,000 tyres and 800 hooves travel the length of the trail each year causing a lot of wear and tear! Existing funding allows most repairs to be made, but there are a number of significant projects which, because they are on more remote sections of the path, are too expensive to tackle using existing funds. Each year, as the erosion and mud gets worse, they get more damaged and become harder to fix.

Park House now stocks Langham’s Best Bitter (4.5%) which has been re-branded to help raise money for the South Downs National Park’s #MendOurWay initiative. 5p from every bottle sold goes to support the National Park’s new charity.

Langham Best Bitter is a tawny-coloured classic best beer with well-balanced malt flavours, finished with a hint of blackcurrant and a slightly spicy, sweet aroma.
